Client: Municipality of Kincardine

Project Location: Kincardine, Ontario

Small towns place a great deal of pride and importance on their heritage and community gathering facilities. Kincardine is no exception when it comes to its Centre for the Arts, which is home to two community theatre groups, the Victoria Park art gallery and historic Scougall gallery.

NA Engineering Associates Inc. was retained in 2012 to conduct a condition assessment of the building.  The purpose of the assessment was to provide a thorough appraisal of the facility’s structure and operating systems and to predict future required expenditures.  The assessment report included mechanical (heating, ventilation and air conditioning, water systems, sewage systems, etc.), electrical distribution and lighting, building structure.  We identified areas requiring improvements, Code-related issues and provided detailed budgetary costing.

NA Engineering Associates Inc. also provided space planning, conceptual design, scope of work and more-detailed cost estimates towards proposed renovations stemming from the initial report.  These documents were used by the Municipality of Kincardine for budget planning; subsequently, funding was allocated to complete a three phase renovation project for the building (design and two phases of construction).  Construction will include major HVAC upgrades, new washrooms to service the adjacent park and rework to main floor spaces to take advantage of the picturesque views of Lake Huron.

In 2015, NA Engineering Associates Inc. completed the detailed design drawings, specifications and tender package for the construction phases.  We also are providing on-going support and inspections during construction which is currently underway at the building.
