NALogoRed&B_thick_assoc-150PXLighting Assessment & Upgrade, Bruce Learning Centre, Bruce Power

Client: Bruce Power L.P.

Project Location: Tiverton, Ontario

The lighting in the Learning Centre was badly in need of a substantial upgrade and modernization.  N A Engineering Associates Inc. was retained to conduct a field review and assessment of the existing lighting and develop a technical specification for installation of new and ‘better’ lighting fixtures at the Bruce Learning Centre, ‘B31’

The Bruce Learning Centre is a large (~120,000 sq. ft.), single story building that conducts a wide variety of training for the Bruce Power Operations and Building Trades personnel.  The original building was constructed in the early 1980’s, with an addition built in 2006.

The lighting fixtures installed at the Bruce Learning Centre were original to the building.  The lighting system was outdated, not energy efficient, and not providing the appropriate lighting to the occupants of the building.  When constructed, training at computers was in its infancy.  Not so for today’s students!

As a part of this condition assessment, NA Engineering Associates Inc. developed a scope of work and technical specifications for the replacement of the existing lighting fixtures.  With the exception of one or two areas, all of the lighting fixtures at this facility were recommended for upgrade.  The new lighting has the appropriate lighting conditions for the trainers and trainees that use this facility.

Through a competitive bidding process the final price was significantly lower than originally budgeted.
