Nichols Arena is one of London’s most used recreational facilities. A recent addition of a third ice rink resulted in the need to update the original building, and its two ice pads, in order to meet the requirements of its occupants. NA Engineering Associates Inc. provided the City of London with the consulting services for the design and construction of the building’s rejuvenation.

The job’s primary focus consisted of the complete upgrade of the original refrigeration system serving the two rinks. New concrete rink slabs as well as dasher-board assemblies were also included in the design. With the new rink comes a state of the art refrigeration plant.

A fresh coat of paint and a new roof completed the upgrade and gave the building the modern feel it very much needed.

After its completion, Earl Nichols Recreational Facility has become one of London’s premiere ice rink and recreation centers and will continue to meet the growing needs of London and its residents for many years.
