OPG – Darlington Energy Complex

Project Location: Clarington, Ontario

Client: Ontario Power Generation

NA Engineering Associates Inc. teamed with Nicholson Sheffield Architects to complete architectural, mechanical, electrical, civil, and structural preliminary design and to act as the design oversight agent on behalf of Ontario Power Generation for the new Darlington Energy Complex in Clarington. The Darlington Energy Complex is a three storey building with a partial basement. The facility is primarily used for office space, warehousing and training mock-up areas.  The building was designed to LEED Silver standard by utilizing such principles as a reflective roof membrane, and the use of energy efficient plumbing and light fixtures.  The large, open mock-up areas are equipped with overhead cranes for maneuvering large, heavy equipment. Initial consultation discussions with the Municipality of Clarington identified the requirements for the site plan including building orientation, zoning compliance, site access, and servicing and storm water management design criteria. NA Engineering Associates Inc. is once again pleased to have teamed with Ontario Power Generation on an exciting new project like the Darlington Energy Complex.
