Bruce Power Fire Training Facility

Bruce Power, a nuclear plant operator on the shores of Lake Huron, has a highly-skilled Emergency Response Team (ERT), trained to address many types of incidents. One such incident is fire – Bruce Power is required by its operating license to conduct live fire training and readiness exercises. Accordingly, the new Bruce Fire Training Facility provides both indoor and outdoor live fire training, self-rescue training, physical assessment and related equipment storage for the Bruce Power ERT.

Darlington Refurbishment Project – Reactor Mock-Ups

The Darlington Nuclear Generating Station will soon be entering a refurbishment phase and this involves removing and replacing the primary reactor components. Remotely-controlled tools and complex multi-task machines are required to conduct the re-tube work safely, due to the radioactive environment.

Building Information Modeling (BIM) and Rapid Prototyping

NA Engineering Associates Inc. utilizes state-of-the-art modeling and rendering software to produce virtual models of our projects. This technology is known as Building Information Modelling or BIM.  BIM technology allows us to produce complex forms, investigate multiple design solutions and take advantage of the most current analysis software to reduce waste and increase design efficiency.

OPG – Darlington Energy Complex

NA Engineering Associates Inc. teamed with Nicholson Sheffield Architects to complete architectural, mechanical, electrical, civil, and structural preliminary design and to act as the design oversight agent on behalf of Ontario Power Generation for the new Darlington Energy Complex in Clarington.

Hellenic Community Centre

NA Engineering Associates Inc. (NAE) was retained by the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Community of London & Vicinity to bring a new front entry and reception space to the existing Hellenic Community Centre at 131-133 Southdale Road in London, ON.

Stratford General Hospital

Stratford General Hospital was chosen by the Ministry of Health to become a Regional Health Care Centre in the Counties of Huron and Perth.  As a key component of this new regionalized model for health care, a renewed and expanded facility was required.  NA Engineering Associates Inc. provided structural and municipal engineering services to the design team.

Bruce Power Third-Party Fire Protection Reviews

Since 2011, NA Engineering Associates Inc. has undertaken Third-Party Fire Protection Reviews for Bruce Power LP as required under their operating licenses. Third party fire protection reviews are mandated by the CNSC for all changes which potentially impact the fire protection within nuclear generating stations.

Bruce Hotel

One of Stratford’s newest luxury accommodation establishments is the Bruce Hotel on Ontario Street. This high-end inn is a fully functioning facility which opened in the summer of 2015. NA Engineering Associates is proud to have provided the structural engineering services for this exciting project, from design and development all the way through to field review and construction support services.

OPG Western Waste Management Facility

NA Engineering Associates Inc. was retained by Aecon Industrial in 2011 to implement our CSA N286 accredited quality program for the consulting firm providing designer of record services to the project. In a very short time frame, NAE applied our program, customized it for use by the design consultant, provided training to all engineering team members and performed weekly implementation audit services throughout the detailed design phase.

Expansion of London International Airport

The renovation and expansion of the London International Airport required the addition to, and reworking of the existing parking areas, access roads, walkways as well as the main boulevard. An assessment of the existing roadways and parking areas was undertaken to determine the extent of asphalt, curb and sidewalk replacement.

City of Stratford

NA Engineering Associates Inc. has provided structural engineering services to the City of Stratford since 1994.  Professional services have included assessments and condition surveys of existing buildings and structures, preparing specifications and tender documents for required rehabilitation work, and supervising the construction phase.

Stratford Normal School

The Normal School Building located adjacent to the world famous Stratford Festival Theatre was constructed in 1908 by the Province of Ontario as a school for educating teachers who would work in small rural areas, an example being Stratford. It is the only one of four identical Italian–style Renaissance buildings constructed in 1908 that has survived without substantial renovation.  NA Engineering Associates Inc. understands historical buildings such as the Normal School.

Rannoch Mill Site Remediation

After a Phase 2 Environmental Site Assessment was completed at a long-time mill property, NA Engineering Associates Inc. was engaged to provide the consultant oversight and verification of site clean-up efforts.

Stratford Fairgrounds

The former fairgrounds site in Stratford was vacated when a new recreational and agricultural facility was constructed elsewhere in the City.  In anticipation of the property being declared surplus and being placed for sale, the City of Stratford engaged NA Engineering Associates Inc. to conduct a Phase 1 and a Phase 2 Environmental Site Assessment.

St. Josephs Health Care – Surgical Building

The new Surgical / DI Building at St. Joseph’s Health Care (London) provides state of the art operating rooms, recovery areas, as well as suites for day surgery.

London Courthouse – Building Assessment

The London Courthouse is a prominent member of the high rise buildings that make up downtown London’s skyline.  Designed by Skinner and Stevens Architects, the building was constructed in the early 1970’s.  NA Engineering Associates Inc. has been providing consulting engineering services to the Province of Ontario, owner of this building since 2003  Work on this site has been coordinated by the property managers which included SNC Lavalin and CBRE.

Regional Mental Health Care – Roads and Parking Lot Upgrade

St. Joseph’s Health Care’s Regional Mental Health Care facility in St. Thomas required new asphalt pavement to be designed and installed over a large portion of its access and delivery roadways, which was replacing well- worn flooring that was part its life expectancy.

Little Falls Public School

NA Engineering Associates Inc. was pleased to provide the structural engineering, site grading, site servicing and stormwater management design services for this new, single-storey school in St. Marys, Ontario.  Curved walls and various angles integrated into the design of the building create visual interest and an inviting entrance while posing unique structural challenges that, we are pleased to report, were overcome successfully.

OPG Mechanical Room ‘As-Built’ Drawings, 700 University Avenue

Ontario Power Generation’s head office at 700 University Ave is a complex, high-rise office building situated on a very tight site in the heart of downtown Toronto.  The mechanical room contains the major components and systems that are used to heat and cool the building throughout the year.

OPG, Building KD and KR Office Reno and HVAC Upgrades

NA Engineering Associates Inc. undertook the task of designing the mechanical, electrical systems for the second floor KD building and the second and third floor KR building renovations at Ontario Power Generation’s buildings at 800 Kipling Avenue in Toronto.

Lighting Assessment & Upgrade, Bruce Learning Centre, Bruce Power

The lighting in the Learning Centre was badly in need of a substantial upgrade and modernization.  N A Engineering Associates Inc. was retained to conduct a field review and assessment of the existing lighting and develop a technical specification for installation of new and ‘better’ lighting fixtures at the Bruce Learning Centre, ‘B31’

Stratford Multi-Use Recreational Complex

The Stratford Multi-Use Complex is Stratford’s largest recreational complex and community facility. Boasting 2 ice rinks, a running track, and a community centre, this facility is tailored to suit the needs of the City’s residents. NA Engineering Associates provided the site services and site grading design for this 8 hectare property. As a part of the development, McCarthy Road was extended from its current location through to the west of this new site.

40 Year Infrastructure Renewal Plan, Bruce Power

In early 2007, Bruce Power engaged NA Engineering Associates to conduct the Phase 1 Scope Definition portion of the 40-Year Infrastructure Renewal Plan. This work was successfully completed in the spring of 2007. Following this, NA Engineering Associates Inc., together with sub-consultants Gamsby and Mannerow Engineers and Zelinka Priamo Limited, were retained to complete Phase 2 of this very important project.

University of Western Ontario – Sarnia

alhotra Nicholson Sheffield Architects Inc. requested NA Engineering Associates Inc. to provide the structural design for this new 75,000 square foot building to serve as office space at the Bio Industrial Innovation Centre for the University of Western Ontario’s Sarnia-Lambton Research Park.

North Campus Academic Building – UWO

The North Campus Building at the University of Western Ontario is an excellent example of new construction designed to blend seamlessly into the ivy-covered walls of the University’s large number of historic buildings. While designed with historic elements in mind, the interior lecture halls, classrooms and common areas are equipped with state-of-the-art amenities and are filled with eager, young minds.

Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church

The Holy Greek Orthodox Church, London has been entered in the 2002 Ontario Steel Design Awards Competition. NA Engineering Associates Inc. provided structural and municipal designs for this new, Byzantine Style Church. The unique style with domes and a barrel vault roof made this project challenging. The building utilizes a steel frame, hollow core floor slabs, and masonry walls.

Stratford Place – Commercial and Residential

A great example of small town urbanism, Stratford Place was squeezed into the downtown and has become a vibrant addition to the heart of the city. NA Engineering Associates Inc. provided structural, environmental, and civil engineering services as well as project management for this project. The building comprises 5 storeys above grade and two levels of underground parking.
