Client: City of Stratford

Project Location: Stratford, Ontario

The Stratford Multi-Use Complex is Stratford’s largest recreational complex and community facility. Boasting 2 ice rinks, a running track, and a community centre, this facility is tailored to suit the needs of the City’s residents. NA Engineering Associates provided the site services and site grading design for this 8 hectare property. As a part of the development, McCarthy Road was extended from its current location through to the west of this new site. A sanitary sewer, storm sewer, and water main were designed to be extended through the McCarthy Road extension.

Stormwater management for the control of the quantity of run-off was a large portion of this project. Answering a City of Stratford standard for controls, 250-year storm event post-development flows were restricted to 5-year storm event pre-development rates. This resulted in a carefully crafted stormwater retention area controlled by an orifice flow restrictor.

A tight timeline dictated regular attendance at frequent site meetings and timely field reviews as a part of a concerted effort to complete the project as quickly as possible.
