Intermediate Technologist Position

Stratford, London, Kincardine offices

NA Engineering Associates Inc., a progressive and growing employer in mid-Western Ontario, is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Intermediate Technologist in our London office.  The successful candidate will report to the Senior Technologist and will, under supervision, be responsible for:

  • Preparation of working drawings for building projects in one or more disciplines
  • Prepare or contribute to the preparation of project specifications, drafting and detailing of building projects
  • Perform field reviews and prepare written reports associated with same.

The role requires an individual with proficiency in one or more of the following: AutoCAD, Autodesk Civil 3D, Autodesk Revit Architecture, Structure or MEP (Revit experience preferred).  A good working knowledge of Microsoft Office with Microsoft Outlook.

The successful candidate will be required to adhere to company policies, quality assurance program (both Nuclear and non-nuclear) and company standards for safety, cost control, waste reduction, and on-time delivery.

The Intermediate Technologist must possess the following:

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
  • Degree or technology diploma in an Mechanical, Electrical, Architectural, Structural or Fire Protection field or certified equivalent
  • Certifications and/or licenses appropriate to the industry
  • Minimum 2-3 years of related work experience

Senior Lead Electrical Engineer

London, ON

Engineering Degree (P.Eng, 9-12 years of relevant work experience

We are currently looking for a Sr. Lead Electrical Engineer that has the ability to execute, coordinate and expedite a succession of different engineering jobs, as part of capital expenditure projects. They need to be able to work both independently and with a team to plan and carry out project steps that require the application of mature engineering knowledge. Technical guidance is available for review and advice.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • The first level of direct and sustained supervision of other professional engineers or first level of full specialization.
  • Requires application of mature engineering knowledge in planning and conducting projects having a scope of independent accomplishment and coordination of difficult and responsible assignments.
  • Assigned problems make it necessary to modify established guides, devise new approaches, apply existing criteria in new ways, and draw conclusions from comparative situations.
  • Plans detailed methods of solving assigned problems such as; the design of new structures; modification or additions to existing structures; project concerned with product improvements, equipment or process changes.
  • Delegates work to subordinates and guides work progress through to scheduled completion. Coordinates assignments with other groups.
  • Ensures preparation of adequate documentation, specifications, prototypes, etc. May prepare, or oversee the preparation of, cost estimates, engineering studies, reports etc.
  • Requires effective project management, communication and work coordination skills. Ability to motivate staff and team leadership skills are required.
  • Perform the job and task assigned. Being an effective team member with excellent organizational and time management skills, self-motivated, hardworking and flexible.
  • Being dependable; able to work independently and under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Submit on time timesheets, journals and expense reports, updating them daily and consistently.

Fire Protection Specialist

Advises and assists organizations for purposes of safeguarding life and property against fire, explosion and related hazards by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Recommends materials, equipment or methods for alleviation of conditions conducive to fire.
  • Advises and plans for prevention of destruction by fire, wind, water, or other causes of damages.
  • Investigates all fire incidents to determine the origin, cause, and possible problems with current fire protection plans and procedures and responds accordingly.
  • Conducts studies of industrial, mercantile and public buildings, homes and other property before and after construction, considering factors such as fire resistance of construction, usage or contents of buildings, water, supplies and water delivery and egress facilities.
  • Risk assessment, conceptual design and detailed design for industrial and institutional fire protection systems,
  • Preparation of technical/tender documents and specifications,
  • Design of signalling, emergency lighting, security, access control and life safety systems,
  • Special hazard design (including aspirating & beam smoke, flame, linear heat, suppression monitoring & control, clean agent, water mist)
  • Report writing; condition assessments; third party fire protection reviews
  • Obtaining and maintaining fire protection, access control and signalling product agency listings, Codes and Standards, (ULC, UL, FM, CSA, etc.)
  • Preparation and/or review of responses to RFPs/RFQs

Mechanical Engineer

Summary of Qualification:

As a fully qualified professional engineer, develops the design of new or revised products or services to meet functional requirements or performance specifications. Generally handles more complicated components of larger design projects on which the basic design has been done at a higher level.

Problems usually solved by the use of a combination of standard procedures, modifications of standard procedures, or methods developed in previous assignments.

  • Submit on time both timesheets, journals and expense reports, update them daily and consistently.
  • Conducts independent analyses, interprets requirements, and sometimes when required to do so, draws conclusions concerning the development of new products, processes or services or improvement of existing products and services. Often works as a member of a design team.
  • Decides on the material used, within confines of stated methods of manufacture; recommends changes in basic design to a higher authority.
  • May act as an engineering authority for a portion of an established product line in which engineering problems though sometimes complex.
  • Requires consultative, interpersonal and communication skills to deal effectively with other design staff, sales, manufacturing and purchasing personnel in seeking solutions to customer requirements or production and cost improvement problems.
